All readers! I am reporting our Bible reading to the West Virginia Spiritual
Growth Leader and I need your help in order to make an accurate report.
I will be reporting how many Bible books-of-the-month were read and the
number of other spiritual or religious books were read. Last year the number
reported was very small and I know more of us are reading than was reported.
I see in the library that many books have been checked out and checked back
in, so I know many of you are reading. Please send me a report via e-mail
at wandaluvsmusic@suddenlink.net or call me at 304-727-9751. My report is
due early in January. This project includes everyone in the church - men
and women, boys and girls. If you have not been keeping a list of books
throughout the year, you have plenty of time to gather that information.
(We are in a competition of sorts with all the Baptist churches in the State.
So let's get reading during these last few weeks.) Last year we learned
several things about the Bible as we had an assignment each month. We have
not done that this year, but I hope many of us have continued with the Bible
readings and have grown spiritually in the process. Some of the things we
learned in 2009 were naming the books of both the Old and New Testament
in order and naming the 12 disciples. 1 hope that has helped you in your
Bible study in 2010. If you didn't do that in 2010, now is a good time to
start. Our hope is that you, alone or as a family, are learning along with
us. What a great way to spend a few minutes every evening with your spouse,
your kids/ or even a friend on the telephone. For a recap, the books that
should have been read in 2010 are: Ezekiel, Zephaniah, Malachi, Genesis,
Song of Solomon, Exodus, I and II Timothy, Titus, Leviticus, Haggai, and
Matthew. You don't need to have read all of them, but report the ones you
have read.
This committee meets each Monday morning with Pastor Joel. The purpose of the program is to make visitors welcome at First Baptist Church and acquainted with church services. It is wonderful to see young families being added to our church family - the church of the future. We realize that many have hectic work schedules, homes, and families to care for but still have time to participate in activities at First Baptist Church such as worship services, choirs, and church boards.

Hope Through Prayer...
The battle for our children is real . They face much pressure at school and to "stand
in the gap" through prayer is the best gift we can give them. Moms
in Touch International (MITI) is an interdenominational ministry of moms
(grandmothers) aunts and friends) who believe prayer makes a difference.
A MITI group is two or more moms who meet one hour a week to pray for their
children and the school they attend. They pray that their schools will be
guided by high moral values and biblical standards; that teachers would
have wisdom and strength; and that their children would be safe and their
needs met. MITI does not promote any political agenda, but rather seeks
to be a positive support and encouragement to schools.
These groups offer moms an avenue to come together with other moms
for one hour of concentrated prayer each week. There are approximately 33,000
groups worldwide who have been blessed with many answered prayers, strengthened
faith and renewed hope. It is the goal of the ministry to have every public
and private school through college covered with prayer by a MITI group.
For additional information call the church office at (304)727-4661.
If you don't pray for the children... who will?
